Laundering Through Life

Pic #2 - 1/2/12:

It's Sunday a holiday Monday, which means it's laundry day! I calculated that I do laundry approximately 48 times per year. At the laundromat next to my building, I spend between 4 and 8 dollars each laundry run. That's on average 24 quarters per trip. When I'm playing my best game, it takes me at least 75 minutes to wash, dry and fold.

A year in laundry by the numbers:
  • 1,152 quarters inserted
  • $288 dollars spent
  • 3 large bottles of Tide emptied
  • 96 dryer sheets dispensed
  • 12 socks lost
  • 3,600 minutes (60 hours, 2.5 days) consumed
  • 2 marriage proposals received while waiting for dryers (neither accepted)
What's more mundane than laundry? Yet, I always feels accomplished, satisfied, and at peace after the last two socks are paired and put away.
