A Happy New Year Project!

Well folks, it is 2012, the year I've been waiting for since I learned how to count. As the clock struck midnight and the first day of the new year was upon us, I admit I was a bit teary - and not with joy. When you wait for something your whole life, its arrival also brings its passing. Am I being a bit dramatic about 2012? Of course, but dramatic is what I do best. While 2012 doesn't have to do much to beat 2011 (amirite?), I've been looking for a way to make it epic.

Fun facts about '12:
  • 12 months in a year
  • 12 inches in a foot
  • 12 in every dozen
  • 12 pairs of ribs in the human body
  • 12 Apostles
  • 12 sons of Jacob
  • 12 Greek Gods
  • 12 days of Christmas
  • 12 zodiac signs
  • 12 hours in a half day
  • 12 strikes in a perfect game of bowling
  • 12 function keys on a keyboard
  • 12 jurors in an American court
  • 12 Colonies of Kobol
  • 12 basic hues in the color wheel
  • 12 people have walked the moon
  • 12 Steps in AA
  • L, for Lauren and LB, is also the 12th letter of the alphabet
  • 12/12 is the day of LB's birth
  • For most of 2012 I will be 26 (2 X 6 = 12)
  • 2012 is a leap year
  • 12/12/12 will be the last time this century that the month, day and year share the same number
  • 12/21/12 is the last day of the Mayan calendar, and the predicted end of the world
In preparation for making 2012 the most most memorable year yet (in case it's the last!), I've decided to steal a project idea from my cousin: A Picture a Day. On 12/12/12, look for something special :).

Pic #1 - 1/1/12:

This is my first and favorite tree ornament, circa 1986. My parents didn't purchase, make or receive a "Baby's First Christmas" ornament for their second child, but Mom thinks they got this for my second Christmas. It is also one of the first pictures taken with my new iPhone, from which (no doubt) several of the pictures will be taken.

Finally, since it is New Year's Day, a resolution: In 2012, I resolve to find more time for creativity. If not now, when?

P.S. This is coincidentally my 12th post. Yay.
